The FTSE has just hit an all time high but the Nasdaq is down almost 8% over the last 5 trading days. Looking under the hood the FTSE's good performance has been driven by Oil, Banks, the Miners and the 2 big drug companies which all together comprise over 40% of the index by weigh. Conversely, the Nasdaq's weakness has been largely driven by falls in the "Magnificent 7" stocks . Looking longer term however the FTSE is up only 2% since 2018 but the Nasdaq is up an eye watering 140%! looking back even further to 2007 the FTSE has not quite doubled but the Nasdaq has increased 11 fold. Where would you put you're cash long term?
